Our story
Hey & Welcome!

I’m Krystina Holland—the heart behind The Olive Press Homestead.
I’m a former ER nurse turned homeschooling mama of three, with a lifelong passion for caring for others. My journey into healthcare began in 2008 as an ER tech, and in 2014 I earned my nursing degree. I truly loved nursing and fully expected it to be my lifelong career.
Then motherhood changed everything.
After our son was born in 2016, we faced a series of medical scares beginning in 2019 that shifted the way I understood the body, healing, and what true care really looks like. I began asking questions I hadn’t asked before—about the food we eat, the ingredients we trust, and how often we rely on medications and procedures without addressing the root cause.
Nutrition became the first place I turned—and it wasn’t easy.
I had seen firsthand what the standard American diet does to the body, especially over time. So I started from scratch: learning how to read labels, unlearning what I thought I knew about “healthy” food, and discovering which ingredients truly nourish the body—and which ones quietly work against it. As our diet changed, my son’s health slowly began to change too. That’s when everything clicked.
The longer I worked in emergency medicine, the more I noticed the same pattern: bodies breaking down far earlier than they should, with nutrition often being the missing piece. In 2021, I stepped away from nursing—but not from my calling.
I still wanted to help people. I just wanted to do it differently.
That desire is what led to From Scratch to the Table. This cookbook was born from real life in my cozy rental kitchen—busy days, growing families, and the belief that food can be both deeply nourishing and deeply comforting. My goal is to take the stress out of feeding your family, so you can serve meals that support health, healing, and connection—without overwhelm.
Today, through The Olive Press Homestead, I get to care for others in a way that feels aligned, joyful, and rooted in intention—one meal at a time.
I'm so glad you're here!
